The forerunner of this group were the first experiments with playing music Marco Heubaum and his friend, they had taken in the mid-90s. Inspired by the works of "Tiamat" and "Paradise Lost", the guys started writing their own songs, but because of the difference in views in 1997, their tandem broke up. A couple of years he has gone on working off of a clear vision of the project, and then the guitarist wants selection of partners. In 1999, Heubaum invited Roland Krueger and other members of the just disbanded metal bands and presented them with a number of his songs. Selecting from this material five tracks the band recorded in their small Studio and posted on the Internet. Suddenly, Marco and company songs were very popular, and this was the impetus for transformation "Xandria" from a simple project into a real team. After a couple of changes in the composition, the configuration of the group acquired the following: Marco (guitar), Lisa Saphos (keyboards), Roland (bass), Gerit Lamm (drums) and Andy (guitar).
Original leading vocal parts were performed by Heubaum, but eventually it turned out that Lisa's voice sounds so much nicer, and so subsequently it seized the microphone for the long haul. In 2001, the team was already quite popular in the underground, and she began to receive requests for concerts. Soon the band came up with the Manager, Udo Zimmer and activities "Xandria" became interested in the labels.
Xandria during this period, Andy could not give the team enough attention and had to be replaced by Philip Restemeier. In 2002, in addition to live performances, the team was actively engaged in preparing demos and thus received a contract from the "Drakkar Records". At the end of the year under the leadership of producer Dirk Reigner work started on the first album and may "Kill The Sun" were already on the shelves. The debut was very good, and the disc entered the national Top 100. In the spring "Xandria" performed several concerts on tour with "Subway To Sally", and then went on a major tour in company with "Tanzwut". Then there were the festivals of type "Mera Luna" tour with another Gothic team "ASP", and closer to winter, the musicians began writing their second album. This time the venue of the sessions was elected Belgium, and ran the entire producer Jose Alvarez-Brill. In early 2004, left the team Kruger, and the new bassist was Niels Middelhauve. Finished with his album "Ravenheart" was for the group's real breakthrough.
The drive took 36 th place in the national charts, where it stayed for a total of seven weeks. The popularity of "Xandria" crossed the border of Germany and went right up to South East Asia, where musicians were invited to the biggest, oupen-air "Busan International Rock Festival". At this festival the band played in front of 30 thousandth audience, it is not surprising that the next tour "Xandria" held as headliners.
Xandria the First half of 2005, the team has spent on working on their third album. This time the recording was attended by many guest musicians, such as members of the Australian team "Lyriel", Irish fakery from "Sceal Eile" and even the German Cinematic Orchestra. Despite the somewhat unusual status of the session album "India" was the heavier of the two previous works. Interesting fact – prior to "Indian" the release of Niels and Lisa have legalized their relationship by becoming husband and wife. The promotional tour ended in 2006, after which the agenda was the question of the fourth Studio album. The material this time was more rock-oriented and more team-oriented, and therefore the musicians have decided to produce the record. "Salome - The Seventh Veil" was a concept album – it tells the story of the Jewish Princess Salome, and his sound had a middle Eastern color.
The drive took 41 th place in the German charts, but in the spring of 2008, Lisa said that experiences discomfort as frontwoman, and left "Xandria". In February 2009, got to the microphone Kerstin Bischof, but in less than a year, as retired and she. In the summer of 2010 Frau Middelhauve briefly returned to his place, and at the end of the year it was replaced by Manuela Cruller. Passed some school in "Haggard", a new vocalist had operatic soprano, and therefore recorded her album "Neverworld''s End" has aroused the listener's Association with "Nightwish" Tarja Turunen
